Terms of Service

1. Accepting these terms

By accessing or using Cherrypicker, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. If you use Cherrypicker on behalf of someone else, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for them.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Cherrypicker. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, use the service only with permission from a parent or guardian. You may use Cherrypicker only where doing so is lawful.

3. Accounts and your responsibilities

Signed-in accounts use Google authentication through Supabase. You are responsible for maintaining control of your Google account and device sessions, providing accurate information, and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access. Do not share an account, impersonate another person, or upload academic records you do not have permission to use.

4. An independent planning aid

Cherrypicker is an independent student project and academic planning aid. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Foothill College, De Anza College, the Foothill–De Anza Community College District, ASSIST, the University of California, the California State University system, or any institution listed in the service.

Cherrypicker is not an official counselor, registrar, admissions office, articulation authority, enrollment system, or degree-audit system. It cannot register you for classes, make decisions for a college, or replace advice from an authorized academic professional.

5. Academic information changes

Course plans, requirements, articulations, prerequisites, schedules, seat counts, modalities, instructors, deadlines, transfer eligibility, and admission rules may change or contain errors. Some source data is scraped, transformed, incomplete, pending review, or published for a particular catalog year. A displayed seat count is not a reservation.

Before making an important decision, verify it with official college catalogs, ASSIST, institution websites, and the appropriate counselor, registrar, articulation officer, or admissions office. You are responsible for checking current deadlines, filing requirements, residency rules, prerequisites, and official program requirements.

6. No academic outcome guarantee

Cherrypicker does not guarantee transfer, admission, graduation, degree or certificate completion, course availability, seat availability, enrollment, prerequisite clearance, articulation acceptance, financial-aid eligibility, or that a proposed schedule will be compatible or remain unchanged. A “complete,” “eligible,” “top pick,” or similar label is a planning calculation, not an official determination.

7. Your content and academic information

You keep ownership of information you submit, including transcript-derived rows, plans, reviews, notes, messages, and bug reports. You give Cherrypicker permission to host, process, reproduce, and display that information only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service and its community features.

Transcript PDFs are processed as described in the Privacy Policy and are not intended to be retained after parsing. You must review parsed academic information for accuracy before relying on or saving it. Instructor reviews, manual CSU progress entries, and non-hidden bug reports use public or community-readable features; do not include private academic records, student IDs, passwords, or sensitive personal information in them.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break the law, infringe rights, harass others, or submit unlawful, deceptive, defamatory, or abusive content;
• probe, bypass, disable, or interfere with authentication, access controls, rate limits, or service security;
• introduce malware, automate abusive traffic, overload the service, or scrape Cherrypicker in a way that disrupts it;
• misrepresent community content as an official institutional statement;
• submit false reports or reviews, manipulate ratings, or expose another person’s private information; or
• use the service to access school systems or records without authorization.

9. Cherrypicker materials

The Cherrypicker name, logo, interface, original text, software, and other original project materials are owned by the project owner or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. These terms give you a limited, personal, revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose. Academic catalog, articulation, institution, and other third-party content remains subject to the rights and terms of its source.

10. Third-party services and links

Cherrypicker depends on or links to services including Google, Supabase, Vercel, Anthropic, ASSIST, college and university websites, and RateMyProfessors. Cherrypicker does not control those services and is not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security, or privacy practices. Your use of them may be governed by separate terms.

11. Service changes and availability

Cherrypicker may add, remove, correct, or change features and data; impose reasonable limits; or suspend parts of the service. The service may be interrupted by maintenance, provider outages, source-data changes, or technical problems. Cherrypicker does not promise that every feature or academic data source will always be available.

12. Suspension and termination

Cherrypicker may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security risks, unlawful conduct, repeated violations, or harm to the service or others. You may stop using Cherrypicker at any time. Signed-in users can delete their account through the account menu or Account Settings, subject to the deletion details in the Privacy Policy.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, Cherrypicker is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty that cannot legally be excluded.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Cherrypicker and its project owner will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, opportunities, enrollment, admission, academic credit, or profits arising from use of the service. Cherrypicker’s total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid Cherrypicker in the 12 months before the claim. Cherrypicker is currently offered without a paid subscription. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so these limits apply only as far as the law permits.

15. Responsibility for misuse

If your unlawful use, content, or intentional violation of these terms causes a third-party claim against Cherrypicker, you agree to be responsible for the resulting reasonable losses and costs to the extent permitted by law. This does not apply to claims caused by Cherrypicker’s own conduct.

16. California law

California law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that is not eligible for small-claims court will be brought in a state or federal court with jurisdiction in California, unless applicable consumer law requires otherwise.

17. Changes to these terms

Cherrypicker may update these terms as the service changes. Updated terms will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date. If a change is material, Cherrypicker may provide additional notice when practical. Continuing to use the service after updated terms take effect means you accept them.

18. General

If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply. A failure to enforce a term is not a waiver. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the agreement between you and Cherrypicker about the service.
