A planning tool for De Anza and Foothill students. It shows your progress toward transfer and degree goals, builds a quarter-by-quarter course plan, and turns next quarter into a class schedule with real sections and CRNs.

It's an independent student project. It is not affiliated with De Anza, Foothill, the Foothill–De Anza District, ASSIST, the University of California or the CSU.

No. It helps you walk into a counseling appointment better prepared, but it can be wrong or out of date. Confirm your plan with a counselor before any high-stakes decision.

De Anza and Foothill only. Class sections, seats and prerequisites come from those two colleges. Many students take classes at both, so a plan can mix courses from each.

Tracking your goals, coursework and progress doesn't cost anything. Building plans and schedules and asking Ask questions come with a few free uses; after that they need Cherrypicker Premium, a paid plan. Current prices are on the Premium page.

No. It shows requirements and your progress toward them. It never estimates anyone's chance of admission.

It's the share of a major's required ASSIST rows you've completed with a C or better (or P). Each row counts once, even when several courses could satisfy it. A “complete N of these” group counts as N.

Some rows don't count at all: recommended courses, and university requirements with no De Anza or Foothill course listed. A row marked NEEDS REVIEW stays in the total but can't raise your percentage, so the number is a floor.

Classes you're taking now or have planned show as a separate dashed part of the ring. They join the percentage once you've finished them.

No. ASSIST marks some courses as recommended, and Cherrypicker tags them ★ RECOMMENDED. They aren't required and don't count toward your percentage. Generating a plan doesn't add them, but you can add one yourself. A counselor can tell you whether one is worth taking.

Usually it's one of these:

• It isn't in your Past Coursework yet. Upload a transcript or add it by hand.
• The grade is below C. C- and lower don't count; P, CR and S do.
• This agreement doesn't list it. Each university and major has its own ASSIST agreement, so a course can count for one major and not another.
• The row is marked NEEDS REVIEW. Those rows never raise your percentage.
• It was an AP exam. AP scores count toward UC's seven-course pattern, but toward major requirements only in a few cases Cherrypicker has confirmed.

PENDING REVIEW is on a whole agreement. Cherrypicker copied it from ASSIST automatically, and a person hasn't checked it yet. Right now every agreement shows this label.

NEEDS REVIEW is on a single row. Cherrypicker couldn't read that row's rule with confidence — for example, whether two courses are joined by “and” or “or”. Tap the badge to see why. That row never raises your percentage.

De Anza and Foothill run on quarters, so every unit in Cherrypicker is a quarter unit. UC asks for 60 semester units, which is 90 quarter units, and Progress counts toward 90.

Generating a plan fills Fall, Winter and Spring. It doesn't fill Summer.

If Cal-GETC or Foothill GE is one of your goals, the Plan fills each open GE area. A course another goal already needs counts first, so nothing is planned twice.

For each area still open, Cherrypicker picks the class most likely to have open seats — not the one that's best for you. Tap the area in the Plan to choose a different class. Once you pick, Cherrypicker leaves that area alone.

Yes. Prerequisites come from the De Anza and Foothill catalogs. When Cherrypicker builds your plan, it puts each course after the courses it requires. If you drag a course somewhere its prerequisites aren't met, you'll see a warning, but the move is allowed.

Some prerequisites can't be checked, like placement results or instructor consent. Confirm those with the college.

Seat counts come from FHDA's public class listings and refresh a few times a day. A class can fill between refreshes, so check MyPortal before you register.

Cherrypicker doesn't have a current seat count for that section — for example, the last refresh failed or didn't include it. It's never shown as 0 or Full, because that could be wrong. Check MyPortal for the real number.

No. It gives you the CRNs for the sections you pick. You register yourself in MyPortal.

Today shows the next few dates. Tap All key dates for the full list, with UC and CSU tabs, financial-aid dates, a source link for each date, and Add to calendar.

The dates are a guide. Confirm each one with your college and the official UC, CSU and financial-aid sites.

No. Plans, schedules, prerequisite checks and progress are all computed by fixed rules, so the same inputs always give the same plan.

AI is used in three places: answering questions in Ask, turning notes you type (like “no Friday classes”) into settings, and — if you allow it — reading unclear transcript lines. If you ask Ask to change your plan, Cherrypicker checks the change against its own rules first.

Ask can be wrong, so double-check anything important. It uses your saved coursework, goals and plan only while Personalized Ask is on in Account settings.

Transfer requirements come from ASSIST agreements. Each one shows its academic year, and public pathway pages also show when it was captured.

Sections and seats come from FHDA's public class listings, refreshed a few times a day. Course titles, units and prerequisites come from the De Anza and Foothill catalogs.

The PDF is read to pull out your courses, then deleted. It's never stored in Cherrypicker's database, and you review every row before anything is saved.

Before you upload, a box labeled “Help read unclear transcript lines with AI” is checked. While it's checked, lines the reader can't parse may be sent to Anthropic's AI — never the whole PDF — with emails and long ID numbers masked. Uncheck it to type those lines yourself, or skip the upload and add courses by hand.
