About this course

This course introduces students to the discipline of museum studies through analysis of the historical development of museums and exhibitions as well as discussion of ideas and issues that shape museums today. While the course focuses on art museums within social, postcolonial, and environmental contexts, students interested in factors that shape other institutions engaged in collection, preservation, exhibition, and interpretation are encouraged to enroll.
