About this course
This ethnic studies course is an examination of Native American religious and spiritual beliefs and practices, with particular emphasis on understanding Native American land-based religious philosophy and belief. Tribal religions are examined, with a focus on traditional worldviews, beliefs, and practices, critical events, religious movements, the effects of ethnocentrism and colonialism on Native American lived experiences and struggles for religious freedom, including gaining an understanding of Native resistance and accommodation and the continuous struggle for self-determination in regards to Native religious/spiritual identity and practice.
